Fever – sudden onset, often with chills, muscle aches, and headache – often the 1st day lots of cough usually dry (nothing comes up), fatigue, and poor appetite.
A sore throat and worse cough sometimes follow the above symptoms. The cough may trigger vomiting, but no diarrhea. There is usually no runny nose; however, some may experience this symptom. The cough may get wet later.
Flu Complications
Young children sometimes develop croup or ear infections. Pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis are less common complications. Patients should see their doctor if symptoms worsen.

Tylenol and cough/cold medicines do not shorten the illness and they do not prevent complications. Antibiotics do not help, except for certain situations. Flu vaccinations prevent the flu. Resting and drinking lots of fluids does help.
